I believe that everyone can learn to sing!

I grew up singing in choirs in Nanaimo, and developed a passion for the expressive capacity of the human voice. I completed two terms at the Randolph Academy of Performing Arts in Toronto and a Bachelor of Music in Voice from the University of Victoria, and have returned to my hometown to share my education in song. I recently attended The LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™ and completed all three levels of certifications, and I'm excited to apply these principles to teaching! I also have extensive choral experience, including membership in the National Youth Choir of Canada and the BC Choral Federation's Choral Directorship Course.

I love inspiring people. I love to help people find their voice, discover freedom in their technique, and encounter new musical insights – whether in private lessons or in a choir. I also love to speak to audiences through performance.

Choir Direction

I direct the Camerata Singers, a mixed-voice community choir in Nanaimo. Through vocal instruction, fun and challenging repertoire, and a supportive community environment, my goal is to bring out the best in any group I am working with. I am also available to coach choirs on vocal technique, and I run workshops for groups ranging from kids to seniors.

Voice Lessons

I teach voice lessons to people of all ages, abilities, and genders, in styles ranging from classical to pop. I employ a student-centred approach, where our goals and workflow are based on what you want from lessons – whether that's to feel comfortable singing along to the radio or to prepare for auditions! Lessons include plenty of movement and laughter to engage the whole body. My main goal is to help you discover healthy, free, and expressive vocalization.

Somatic Voicework

Somatic Voicework™ is a method of teaching that works in harmony with the body in a deliberate and specific manner. It asks that we sing and teach in a way that respects the body and its inherent wisdom.
We use "body-centered time" which means that we do not rush. We coax the throat and body to make changes gently and comfortably. Done properly, Somatic Voicework™ is an approach to vocal healing in the broadest possible sense.

Lindsay is a great voice teacher. Not only does she teach you ways to improve your technique, but also the science behind your vocal structure. She relates all her lessons to references I can understand, making it easy to apply them quickly.

I highly recommend Lindsay as a voice teacher.
